BRETT LEE SHELTON started making jewelry as an outgrowth of his appreciation for the rocks found in aboriginal lands of his Lakota ancestors. Simply put, it was a way to make something nice for others to enjoy- a way to share the beauty and wonder he sees inside the stone. Brett pays particular attention to the stone, and brings out the best of what he sees.
Most of the pieces have a story. Intricacies in design are frequently an homage to what the stone has to say, or to the place where it came from. Brett's work typically includes references to the Badlands and Black Hills, as well as various Lakota concepts.
